Greetings Fellow NAM Fathers,

This year’s trip is once again at the Morgans Campground – https://www.morganscanoe.com/directions.cfm – on Sat, Sept 26, I wanted to get some details out to everyone, and I’m hoping to also get some volunteers to help out to make sure things are safe, fun, and efficient!

First the details-

  • Arrival– We can arrive anytime after 12p. A fee of $7 per camper has been arranged with Morgan’s.
Please register and pay prior to pulling back to the campsites.
  • Campsites– We have several campsites reserved. These areas will need to accommodate multiple
tents, please park in the parking lot near the entrance after setting up camp. The forecast predicts good
weather, but setting up your tent on a tarp might be a good measure to ensure a dry tent floor.
  • Food/Drinks– We will have a group dinner in the shelter. We’ll serve hamburgers and have water and lemonade in dispensers. We’re asking that each family contribute a pot luck item to share. We’ll also serve coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the morning.  Any leftovers that are breakfast-appropriate will be
offered as well. Bring items to augment your own group’s breakfast if you’re interested in a more substantial morning meal. Bring your own beverages and please help us to keep our trash to a minimum. Pack out your own waste, and use re-usable water bottles. We won’t have plastic cups for the lemonade/water dispensers.
  • Canoeing– There will be a canoe trip in the afternoon.
  • Nature Hike– In past years, Pat Connely generously offered a really detailed nature hike highlighting the plant and animal life in the area.. Would anyone be interested leading a hike? It doesn’t have to be filled with info/facts, but it’s been an enjoyable addition to the trip. The hike might start at around 3pm
  • Safety– This is a spread out area, adjacent to the Little Miami River. It’s a great place for our kids to run free and enjoy the surroundings. Please keep tabs on the kids. We want everyone to have a SAFE trip.

At this point, I do still need some help- particularly on Saturday and Sunday morning. Here are jobs
that need to be filled
Nature Hike Trailblazer– We need someone willing to lead a trek on the trails around the camp.
Tug of Peace Officiator– job entails leading the group through a series of tugging match ups.
Night Hike Guide– entails leading a walk at night to let the kids experience the darkness and sounds.
S’Mores Sous Chefs– job entails gathering some good marshmallow sticks with the kids and helping to dispense ingredients and keep kids safe around the fire
•We’ll also need help with clean-up after dinner, serving of coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the morning, and with monitoring the campsites after dark.
