PTO
NAM Parent-Teacher Organization
What IS the PTO?
PTO is the Parent-Teacher Organization. PTO serves primarily to organize volunteer efforts and plan events at NAM. The mission of the PTO is:
Enhance and enrich the education of our children by promoting close coordination between caregivers, students, teachers, and administration.
The purpose of NAM PTO is to:
- Connect families to build community.
- Facilitate open communication between parents, caregivers, students, and NAM staff.
- Work collaboratively with NAM Foundation and Father’s Group to enhance NAM students school experience through event planning and executing strategic goals.
- Foster the Montessori Triangle (Parent, Teacher, Child) by increasing parent and caregiver engagement through volunteering and supporting our teachers.
Why should parents play a part in PTO?
All parents, guardians, and caregivers at NAM are, by default, PTO members. When they choose to participate in PTO, they become more connected to the NAM Community. They will have a voice in enhancing their child’s school experience by volunteering for committees, helping at events, and sharing their ideas and concerns at general PTO meetings. NAM encourages caregiver involvement to support children in their academic and social education; involvement in the PTO is one way to achieve this. The NAM PTO is only as strong as its members. That’s why we need YOU!
Do parents have to attend meetings?
No. Becoming involved with PTO does not mean that parents must commit to attend every meeting. However, meetings are valuable– they are helpful for building community and having meaningful dialogue about PTO issues and parent concerns. PTO meetings will be hosted virtually to increase participation. A link will be shared a few days before the meeting.
What does the PTO do?
Here are a few of the events PTO is hosting:
- Welcome Back Picnic
- Grandparents Day

NAM is about shared involvement and inclusion. Here are a few ways parents can become involved:
- Become part of a committee
- Attend meetings in-person or virtually
- Be on the lookout for volunteer signups for school events
- Spread the word about PTO!
