NAM’s First Fall Working Bee

The NAM PTSO will sponsor a yard clean-up at our school on Saturday November 3rd, 9am to 11am, followed by meaty and meatless chili offerings for our busy working bee volunteers. Bring your own tools: weeder, shovel, rake, gloves, brooms etc.  We’ll provide the bags for cleanup. (We’ll have some extra gloves for kids and grown ups but please dress for the weather and to get dirty!) This is a great opportunity for students & parents to contribute in a positive way and help clean up our school grounds!  No green thumb is needed, but children will need a responsible adult/family member to help them.  Grandparents, neighbors and friends of NAM are welcome too. Please help us put the NAMS’ gardens to bed for the winter in preparation for a more beautiful spring!

From the Desk of the Principal
Dear Students and Parents,

One of my goals is to provide our students with educational experiences outside the classroom. Our 3 to 6 age level will visit Children’s Theater next week to watch the play “Superman”. On 10/12/18 they will also have a presentation here at the school from “Keep Cincinnati Beautiful”.

Our 6 to 9 age level students have seen a presentation from Duke Energy, seen the play “Jungle Book” performed by actors from Playhouse in the Park, and just saw “Jack and the Wonder Beans” at the Aronoff.

The 9 to 12 age level students have volunteered at the Giving Fields to harvest crops for the Free Store Food Bank. They will also be attending Matthew Ministries in November to volunteer their time. I am proud of our students for serving our community.

The activities I listed are just for October and November. We have many more experiences outside the classroom for all of our students. Please also keep in mind that the Civic Garden Club has been having garden classes at school that have been taking place since the beginning of school.

From the Desk of the Principal
Dear Students and Parents,

In order for us to best educate your child and our students, we are requesting your assistance. Please check to see that your child has all of their daily items prior to coming to school in the morning. We can not constantly call students out of instruction to pickup items that were not brought to school.
On a daily basis, the Main Office is having 10-15 items being dropped off and we can not continue to interrupt instruction by calling that many rooms. IE – Coats, instruments, lunches, homework etc. We realize that a student now and then may have forgotten an item, but 10-15 daily is to many for the office to manage plus the number of times a lesson may be interrupted impacts learning.
Sincerely,
Mr. Lewis
