From the Desk of the Principal

Dear Parents and Students!!

Last Friday NAM Student Council hosted a school wide assembly on Black History Month. The event began on Monday with members of student council reading over the intercom excerpt from famous African Americans and their contributions to our nation on a daily basis.

On Friday at the assembly, members of the SCPA Dance Department discussed current dances that had originated in Africa. Then the dancers performed and demonstrated the moves emphasizing the importance of synchronization. Also NAM students currently participating in our after school dance program with Mam Luft Dance Company, dazzled the audience with their tap dancing skills!

The Musical and Spoken Word portion of the program was performed by NAM Staff members. Mr. Barnfield, Mr. Davis, Mr. King, Ms. Wadsworth and Mr. Abraham all made outstanding contributions making the program fun and educational. Our students enjoyed watching their teachers perform.

Congratulations to members of NAM Student Council and their sponsor Ms. Shockley-Matthews for an awesome show!

Thank you for your support and have a wonderful week.

Sincerely

Mr. Lewis

PS – We hosted 161 Parent-teacher conferences for third quarter!
